Through HIS prophets, God had told the children of Judah that the time would come when HE, God, would turn them into captivity and put them away from HIM so that HE would not have to see Judah anymore because of all the sins they had done against HIM.
2 Chronicles 36
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised HIS words, and misused HIS prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against HIS people, till there was no remedy.
17 Therefore HE (God) brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: HE gave them all into his hand.
17 Therefore HE (God) brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: HE gave them all into his hand.
This would be a 70-year captivity.

At the end of this present world, churches fall away from the scriptures bringing about the apostasy in the churches and with the coming of Jesus the apostate churches will be destroyed because they "fell away" from the scriptures for the New Testament Church as written in the New Testament Bible.
Like it was in the days of the Old Testament, Judah, the people of God, were doing evil, and God sent warnings to these evil doers, by HIS prophets, but they would not heed those warnings.
Today God sends HIS servants, the prophets, to warn the pastors and congregations, but they, too will not heed the warnings given by God's prophets.
So destruction will come upon these apostate churches at the second coming of Jesus.
II Thessalonians 2
Because they fell away from scriptures of the New Testament Bible and spoke other doctrines which pleased men and would not repent and would not return to the doctrines of Christ as shown in the Bible, Jesus will destroy them at HIS coming.
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
(In 1982, I was reading the above scripture and God said to me: "The falling away are not individuals leaving the church but are the churches leaving the scriptures.")
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of HIS mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of HIS coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Today's churches:
* Those who believe the scriptures and follow the scriptures will be saved with the coming of Jesus and will be taken to the "new Jerusalem" created by God for them. (Revelation 21)
* Those who cast aside scriptures today in the apostate churches and set up other doctrines, will be destroyed when Jesus comes. (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12)

The 70-year captivity of the nation of Judah when they were carried away to Babylon:
II Kings 24
2 And the LORD sent against him bands of the Chaldees, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD, which HE spake by HIS servants the prophets.
3 Surely at the commandment of the LORD came this upon Judah, to remove them out of HIS sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did;
4 And also for the innocent blood that he shed: for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; which the LORD would not pardon.
God removed Judah "out of HIS sight" where HE would no longer have to see their sins!

We who belong to God are continually talking with God, communing with God through our thoughts and prayers.
They make a pretense of prayer to appear religious to those other persons at the Christmas dinner, and such.
8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.
10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, and his servants did besiege it.
12 And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
14 And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
15 And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all that were strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon.
17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his father's brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
20 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until HE had cast them out from HIS presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

Terrible fate for Zedekiah:
II Kings 25
2 And the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. (2 year seige)
3 And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.
4 And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king's garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
5 And the army of the Chaldees pursued after the king, and overtook him in the plains of Jericho: and all his army were scattered from him.
6 So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
7 And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.

I Kings 25
9 And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
10 And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
So the house Solomon built to the Lord is burned ... and the gold and silver vessels are carried away to Babylon and put into the houses of the gods of Babylon or used by the king and his men.
It would have been a terrible thing to see this.

At the end of this world, Jesus warns HIS disciples that all these things they can see with their natural eye will be destroyed.
Matthew 24
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
II Peter 3
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The Babylon captivity was ordained by God to last 70 years and at the end of the 70 years Jerusalem would be rebuilt.
The end of this present world will be forever for this current heaven and earth will be burned with fire by God at the end of this world and will pass away forever.
The elect of God, chosen by God, will be taken to the new heaven and new earth which is created by God for them.
Matthew 24 (Jesus says)
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Revelation 21 (The apostle John says:)
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and HE will dwell with them, and they shall be HIS people, and God HIMSELF shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And HE that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
