* Our flesh wants to glorify itself!




Jesus made Himself of no reputation and even came to earth in the form of a human.  And because Jesus obeyed God, HE was given a name that is above all names.  (Philippians 2)

Before we are born again we want to have a big reputation and we even work to achieve such.

After we are born again, we begin learning to control ourselves and we learn not to allow our flesh to rule over us.

Every time we do the word of God we are recreated in the image of Christ.

It is a continual process as long as we live on this present earth.

Philippians 2

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

(Jesus who was God, took on the form of a human, and didn't think he had to be equal with God.)

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name:

The work of the flesh to glorify itself is called "emulations" in the Bible.

Galatians 5 

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft
(living in superstitions), hatred, variance (arguing), emulations (exalting yourself above others), wrath (wanting to see people punished), strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Matthew 7    Jesus says

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.


26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Controlling your own flesh by the Word of God and by prayer.

Colossians 3

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.


12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

When we feel our flesh about to rise up to exalt itself, we can pray, "God, please don't let me say that!"

God will help us to control our flesh.

* Much harm can come to us by deceivers who say they are Christians but have not the Spirit.




They come in pretense, often feigning humility, while inwardly they will eat you alive (if you let them) to get what they want.  Usually they want money from us.  

Sometimes they want to speculate and make themselves seem wise to themselves and others. 

When you speak the good word of God, they strike at you like a serpent, as they reveal themselves, and they grieve both you and the Holy Spirit.

Paul warns:   Titus 1:10-11   There are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

Here are some other warnings in Bible about church people who are trying to gain entrance, but for evil motives.

Jesus warns:   

Matthew 24

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Acts 20   (Paul says)

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which HE hath purchased with HIS own blood.

29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Peter speaks of false teachers and false Christians:

II Peter 2

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.


3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: 

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

13 ... Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 

18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
 

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.  

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Paul says there will be perilous times in the church in the last days:

II Timothy 3

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

(These "perilous times" would come in the church groups as we shall see by verse 5)

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 


6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
 

14  But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 

15  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Jude warns us about those who put themselves into the church without having the Spirit:

Jude

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How that they told you there should be mockers
(copiers) in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Romans 8:14   For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

II Thessalonians 2:3-4   Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

I Corinthians 5:11  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 

12  For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 

13  But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

* In God we live and move and have our being.




Nothing makes me happier than hearing a word from God and following that word and then sharing that word with the church.

Truly it is in God we live and move and have our being!  Acts 17:28

We can look at television and occasionally find something we enjoy.  But most of the time I'm just switching channels.

But the word from God is life.  And by that word I have hope in the various circumstances of this life, and am comforted, and know what to do.

Titus 3:9-11

9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 

10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 

(heretic:  a person who refuses the power of truth in the matter at hand; in our case, church goers who will not obey the scriptures) 

11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. 

When a church goer demonstrates a rejection of the scripture, you will not be able to change him.  He will pull you down.  When he demonstrates to us that he does not regard specific instructions whereby he can be helped, we must walk away, leaving him to his own way of thinking.

Romans 8:14    For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Matthew 5:32   But I (Jesus) say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Paul said:

(Churches would "fall away" from scripture and set up another doctrine.  NASB calls this falling away, "the apostasy".)

When a "brother" in the church is committing specific sins, put him away from you and refuse to keep company with him.

I Corinthians 5 

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?  


7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

II Timothy 3

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Also in II Timothy 3:

Psalm 119:130  The entrance of THY words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

And God will give me wisdom when I ask HIM.

James 1:5   If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

And I have access to God at all times.

Philippians 4

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

* The Word from God is everything to the real Christian.




By the Word of God that the Spirit of God gives us, we know the will of God in the issues of this present life.

The Spirit of God searches the heart of God to show us the will of God.  (I Corinthians 2:10-13)

I've had the "Word of God" brought in scripture, in dreams, and in concepts which were brought to my mind by the Spirit of God.  In each case, these were "the Word of God."  And they came to pass.  And I rejoiced in those words and followed those instructions.

It is not the letter of the law that we follow but the Spirit.

God gives each of HIS children HIS Spirit that we can know what God wants us to do as we live on this earth!

Pearl of great price:

Matthew 13

44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:


46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

To us, that Word of God, brought to our mind by the Spirit of God is everything and really all that matters as we go forward, doing that Word.

We read the Bible so we can see that which is approved by God and know the way of God, but it is the Spirit of God in us who leads us in those scriptures.

But some church people see scriptures by their own natural mind.  And they are always a little off, like a radio station that is not tuned in properly.

II Corinthians 3:6   (God) hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Fleshly men often take the scriptures and read them by their own fleshly thinking, having not the Spirit, and set up doctrines by their own thinking for the church to follow.

A primary example of this is in setting up crackers and grape juice as being "communion" (or the Lord's supper), while the communion, the Lord's supper is the correct eating and correct drinking of the Word of God.

The apostle Paul says:  But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.  I Corinthians 11:28

We examine ourselves as we eat and drink the Holy Bible, doing that word, conforming ourselves to that Word.  This is the Lord's supper.  The Word is power.

The Church of Christ group forbids the use of instrumental music in the church because of the following scripture.

Ephesians 5:19   Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

But you can sing in your heart without making any sound at all with your voice!  

I do not believe Ephesians 5:19 forbids instrumental music in the church but rather this verse exhorts us to sing "by our heart" to God, in gratitude to God as we make music.

There have been church groups in the past that required women to wear head coverings (a hat or scarf) as they enter the church building.

And some religious groups think men must wear some type of covering on their heads.

Here is what the Bible shows us for the New Testament church:

I Corinthians 11

4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.

5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.

13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?


15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

The apostle Paul said:

I Corinthians 14

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

The Holy Spirit once said to me:  "Look at what these women were doing in the church."

When I looked, I saw they were asking questions.  (verse 35)  

Further the Holy Spirit reminded me of Philip the evangelist who had 4 daughters "who did prophesy."  (Acts 21)  Prophesy is for the church.  To bring prophecy, you would have to speak in the church, said the Spirit of God to me.

I believe it is wrong for a woman to be asking questions in the gathering of the church, but if she has a word from the Lord she is free to present that word in the assembly of the church when the appropriate time presents itself in the gathering.  I do not believe she would interrupt the teaching to present a word.  That would be "out of order".

I Corinthians 14:40    Let all things be done decently and in order.

At one church I attended, our Bible teacher at each meeting would say to us:  "Does anyone have a word from the Lord?"  

We were then free to give that word of knowledge or word of wisdom or prophecy.

Some things are sins and are never right for the Christian to do:

I Corinthians 6

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Before we were born again we did some of these things, but not after God revealed HIMSELF to us.  Before we were born again we served sin.  Now we serve God, not these sins.

Thus Jesus said to the woman taken in adultery, "Go, and sin no more."  John 8

She could not continue in that previous sin after Jesus forgave her.  Neither can we.  Nor do we want to do such sins after we have been given the Holy Spirit to live in us!

People who were committing adultery and fornication used to hide.  But today many seem proud to tell others they are doing such.  They have no shame.

Paul said:  Abstain from all appearance of evil.  I Thessalonians 5:22

This lack of shame over sins shows us we are drawing nearer to the return of Jesus and the wrath of God upon the disobedient.

Concerning homosexuals and lesbians:

Romans 1

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

* Every idle word that man shall speak shall man give account in the day of judgment, says Jesus.





 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.  (Mt. 12)

When our words line up with New Testament Bible by the Spirit of God, we will be justified.

We must renew our minds to the Word of God and speak those things which warn and edify the church.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;

Proverbs 4:23   Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Matthew 12  Jesus says:

33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.


36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

James 1:26   If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

Ephesians 4:29     Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

* Haven't we learned some things from the Coronavirus?





We should see how quickly things can change all over this world.  

The Bible shows us that in the last days even a great city will be destroyed in one hour

 Revelation 18 ...  10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.  11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:

The Bible also tells us not to trust in "uncertain riches" but in the living God.  (I Timothy 6)

And by the Bible, we will see the time men will cast both gold and silver into the streets as being worthless ... and they will try to hide themselves in caves because of the wrath of God that is coming upon this world.

And in Bible we are told we can use the things of this world but not abuse them.  I think many abuse credit to get things.  We need to learn to live within our means instead of glorifying ourselves in things of this world.

(On television, they showed, during the 2020 Coronavirus, long lines of cars waiting for food hand-outs.  As I looked, I was looking at the cars.  In those long lines, I never saw an old car.  All the cars were new and shiny.  If they are poor people in those new cars, they are poor because they over spent in getting things of this world before hitting the crisis of today.)

This 2020 virus was likely a surprise to see, but we who know Bible, were probably not caught totally unaware, because we see in the scriptures many things that will be coming upon this earth in the last days.

And because of Bible, we do not live in those lusts of this world as does this world.  God prepares us by that way HE teaches us to live by the scriptures which keep us from the lusts of the world which would destroy us.

Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

When we are led by the Spirit of God and follow HIM, we are not going to be living as this world lives today.  Therefore our way of life, which God shows us, puts us into a position for the storms of life which God brings upon the lustful people of this world.

I John 2

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.

Colossians 3

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

* Take heed to yourselves and to the doctrine, says Paul.





First, do we go the extra mile in dealing with people? Even when they treat us unfairly, do we treat them with good?

Concerning the doctrine, do we live by the doctrines set forth for us by God in the New Testament?

Paul says if we pay attention to ourselves and the doctrine, "In doing this, we will save ourselves and those that hear us."  (I Timothy 4:16)

* Take heed to yourselves:

Treat other people in a godly way as shown by the Spirit of God.

When we had the house in Texas, our realtor became upset with us, or with the property, and no longer wanted to deal with us.  She sent us a letter saying, "I think the time has comes for us to part ways."

I responded,  "Ok ... thank you."

That same day, I found another realtor who would represent the property and within two days the house was back on the market.  And the house sold in two days after going back on the market.

After the closing, and the money was in the bank for the house, I sent checks of $500 to both the previous realtor and her partner for their work they had done in showing the house.  It wasn't much, but I thought they deserved something, for I knew these previous realtors had several open houses where they displayed the house.

After we sent the gratuities to the previous realtors, we received an email from one of the partners saying how she thought she had learned a lot from us and would be a better realtor in the future.

Regardless, their encounter with us should show God to them by the way we dealt with issues.

For example:  One of their agents, a Catholic, went over to the property and buried a "idol" of some kind in our flower bed in back of the house, for this woman thought this "idol" would allow her to pray over the house and make the house sell.  As soon as we found out this had been done, we said that this is witchcraft and we required that this "idol" be removed from the property.

In March, 2020, a couple made an offer on the house which we accepted.  They had 10 days to inspect the house and "back out"  if they decided they didn't want the house.  At the end of the 10 day period, they asked for a 5 day extension, which we granted.  But at the end of that extension they asked for another extension of 24 hours which we did not grant.  They backed out of the contract.  This is when our realtor quit.  But we felt led by God not to give this second extension.  The building inspector which was hired by this couple listed several things that needed repair.  So after this couple backed out and we had the new realtor, we raised the price of the house to cover the repairs and other things which had been unforeseen expenses.  Then the couple returned again and wanted to buy the house and they even paid the new price which was $7,000 more than the previous price.

The house was already priced $100,000 below that which the square footage for such an house usually brought, so the buyers would be getting a good buy even though they had to pay $7,000 more.

The house closed May 15, 2020, but the previous realtors who had quit, did not get the full realtors fee, although I believe they did get a partial fee.

Make it a point to share God's way and to deal in a way that is right in the sight of God in all things.

* Take heed ... to the doctrines of Christ:

Many doctrines of Christ set forth for the church in the New Testament Bible are set aside in the churches today.  But we need to keep those doctrines in our own minds and function in this life according to those doctrines.

Some of the Bible doctrines which have been changed from the NT Bible today in the church are as follows:

* Divorce & remarriage after divorce:

Mark 10

And HE (Jesus) arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto Him again; and, as HE was wont, HE taught them again.

2 And the Pharisees came to Him, and asked Him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting Him.
 


3  And HE answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you? 

4  And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away. 

5  And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 

6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 
  
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 

And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 

9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.  

10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. 

11 And HE saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.

 12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

Jesus said:
Matthew 5:32

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

- If a man divorces a faithful wife, and that faithful wife remarries, she will commit adultery upon remarriage after divorce.  But the husband who divorced the faithful wife will be the cause of her adultery.

- The man who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

I Corinthians 7

10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 

11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

* Homosexuals & lesbians:

Romans 1

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.



I Corinthians 6 

9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate (homosexuals), nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

But if a person sees his sin and repents and turns from that sin and refuses to do that sin again, then he is forgiven and can be in the church and saved if he continues in God's ways.

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

John 8, Jesus says to the woman taken in adultery:  "Go, and sin no more."  She could not continue in adultery.

* Dealing with "brothers" (and sisters) in Christ who commit sins of fornication, covetousness, idolatry, railing, drunkenness, or extortion:

I Corinthians 5:11   But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

We have to put such away from ourselves. Paul  did not say to pray for them or counsel them.  If they are called "a brother" they know better and they know these are sins.  Just put such a one away from the church.  Or if you are in a church where these are accepted, you have to depart from them.

Hebrews 10

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:


29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30 For we know HIM that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto ME, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge His people.

(God will judge them but we have to put such a "brother" away from us.)  

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.


Hebrews 6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.


II Peter 2

20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.


22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.


I Corinthians 5

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.


3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,

4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

5 To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

(I believe we deliver such a one to Satan when we refuse to associate with such a "brother".

* Doctrine concerning the way we are to gather as the church when we meet:

I Corinthians 14

26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.

28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.


29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.  

30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.

31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.

32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.


33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.


39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

*  Ministers of the New Testament church given to the church after Jesus arose:

Ephesians 4

8 Wherefore HE saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 

11 And HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  

12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 

13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 

14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

No minister in the New Testament Bible is called "Reverend."

Holy and reverend is God's name.

* Concerning fornication:

I Corinthians 6 

15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith HE, shall be one flesh.

(At the time of sexual intercourse, the two become one flesh.)

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.


I Corinthians 7 

Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

* Concerning and elder/bishop in the church.

I Timothy 3

This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. 

8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; 

9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. 

10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. 

12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 

13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.


Titus 1  (Paul  to Titus)

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;


(We see Paul using the words elder & bishop interchangably. These are the same office in the church.) 

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; 

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

Matthew 24:12  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many (for the Word of God) shall wax cold.

We must view these doctrines from the Bible for churches today have changed these rules for the New Testament church. 

I would not gather with a church group where these rules have been changed away from scriptures.
