As a new Christian, in 1975, I was having problems with destructive thoughts from time to time. A professor from Dallas Theological Seminary said to me, "Just put on the whole armor of God." I replied, fine: "How do you do that." He said, "Just put on Jesus." I said, "How do you do that?"
He couldn't tell me how to do that.
Later God told me.
On this Podcast I share with you that which God showed me about putting on the whole armor of God.

The whole armor of God:
Ephesians 6
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Jesus says:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Thoughts come to our minds. Ideas come to our minds. Desires come to our minds.
The devil sends thoughts to destroy us if we follow those.
Our own flesh often wants things that will not be good for us, though they seem very good.
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
God brings thoughts and ideas to our minds. These are the way to go in the specific issues pertaining to this life.
We recognize those ideas from God by the following:
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
