Some people keep trying to forgive a rebellious person when what they really need is to avoid that person, especially if that other person identifies himself as a Christian while he disobeys God by rejecting scripture.
Titus 3
10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
God teaches HIS people by HIS Spirit. If a person says he is a Christian but he is "ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth", that person is not being taught by God.
You can't help that person.
All we can do is warn him once or twice, and then leave him alone, don't try to keep teaching him, for if you keep doing this, he will eat you alive by his disobedience.
I once said to my mother: "You can go down. But I won't go with you."
My mother then straightened up and began agreeing with scripture and stopped doing that which had been against scripture and she was born again.
We must not continue teaching them when they have rejected the scriptures.

* Woman who sent email telling me many concerns she had about past events, even to her childhood, and current events. She asked me if I could do a teaching on forgiveness. I could, but God said to me what this woman needed to do was Philippians 4:6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
* Woman from our church group who troubled me 39 years. "Always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (II Timothy 3:7)
* Woman from our church group who let things store up inside her heart until she exploded, instead of taking offences to God in prayer. She ended up being destroyed by her way. Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
* Open vision, given by God, of people who say they are Christians but are really "vermin".

II Timothy 3
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

II Corinthians 6
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

I John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If both parties walk in the light of the Word of God then there can be "fellowship". But if one of the two does not walk in scripture, then there cannot be fellowship. In that case, we must learn to depart from that person ... Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
If he cannot understand and we are continually trying to teach that person and he is always a little off like a radio that is not exactly tuned onto the station, we must know that God is not teaching that person and if God is not teaching him, we can't teach him.

I Corinthians 2
***
When we are of God, God teaches us.
1 John 2
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.
If God is teaching you but is not teaching the other person, you are going to be continually troubled when you try to share things of God with that person for he will not understand.
Yet he says he is a Christian. And this makes it difficult. For he should be able to understand.
We must realize he can't be a Christians unless God is teaching him.
Many will come deceiving people as they say the are Christians.
We must accept this warning from Jesus.
Matthew 24
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
