* They who observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. (Jonah 2:8)

Thoughts come to our minds.

Sometimes thoughts are from desires of our own flesh.  Often these desires are fleshly and not the best thing for us to do.

Proverbs 14:12   There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Other times the devil brings thoughts to trouble us and the intent of devil is to destroy those who will allow him to do so and he destroys with the thoughts that he brings.

Devil is always a liar and there is no truth in the thoughts he brings to our mind.  Devil's purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy.  He comes as a roaring lion with the purpose of destruction.  Therefore devil bombards the humans with thoughts which are not true because devil is a liar, says Jesus, and there is no truth in him.   (John 8:44)

When we belong to God, the Holy Spirit of God brings thoughts to our mind, and these thoughts are always the way God wants us to go.

So we have to know which thoughts are from God, which thoughts are from our own flesh, and which thoughts are from devils.

Paul says:

II Cor. 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

James 1:8  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

We, who are of God, turn to God and establish truth from God, and when devil comes after us with another vanity, we cling to what God has shown us about the matter at hand.
