* The Lord's supper: The Word of God

* Jesus said: "I am the bread of life." (Jn. 6)

* Jesus, The Word is, "The bread of life."

* This is the bread that comes down from heaven.  I am the living bread which came down from heaven.  He that eateth of this bread, shall live forever.

* Crackers & grape juice, or the Word of God?

 Scriptures

John 6:30-35   They said therefore unto HIM (to Jesus), What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?  Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.

33 For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Then said they unto HIM (to Jesus), Lord, evermore give us this bread.

35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to ME shall never hunger; and he that believeth on ME shall never thirst.

48-51     I am that bread of life.

(Jesus, The Word, is that bread of life.)

Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

53-58   Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink HIS blood, ye have no life in you.

Whoso eateth MY flesh, and drinketh MY blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.  For MY flesh is meat indeed, and MY blood is drink indeed.

56 He that eateth MY flesh, and drinketh MY blood, dwelleth in ME, and I in him.

As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth ME, even he shall live by ME.

(We live by Jesus, The Word.)

58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

("This bread", the WORD.)

63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

66-68   From that time many of HIS disciples went back, and walked no more with HIM.

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

I Thessalonians 5:21    Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Prove all things by the Bible.

"Where is that in the Bible?"

***

Example of things no longer taught in the churches that I have witnessed:

Matthew 5:32  Jesus says:  ... whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

(The man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.)

***

Example of eating and drinking the Lord's supper:

Ephesians 4:29  Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

How do we avoid temptations:

I Corinthians 10:13   There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

I Corinthians 11:23-32   The apostle Paul said: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which HE was betrayed took bread: And when HE had given thanks, HE brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is MY body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of ME.

After the same manner also HE took the cup, when HE had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in MY blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of ME.

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till HE come.

Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

(As we read the Bible and consider the Word from God, we examine ourselves by that Word from God.)

For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (die).

For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

(We judge ourselves by The Word of God.)

But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

(We are saved by The Word from God.)

The Lord's supper is the eating and drinking of the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Bible and applying those scriptures in a proper way to our lives.

For example:
I Corinthians 6:15-20   Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

16  What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith HE, shall be one flesh.

(Even if you have sex with a prostitute you become one flesh with that prostitute.)

17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

I Corinthians 7:2  to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

The Word of God is the Lord's supper.  We have to eat and drink the scriptures correctly, otherwise we bring damnation to ourselves.  I Corinthians 11:29-30
