* God speaks to us

God sometimes gives us a dream to show us what to do.  Often a scripture will be electrified to our spirit as we read Bible and that is God speaking a "special" word to us to show us what to do or to fill a need in our life.  God can even speak to us today by an angel as he did in examples given us in the New Testament Bible.

We learn to stop and focus on that which God has said to us.  And we must follow that road as far as it takes us.  And usually before the end of that road, another word will be given us by God and we go down that road.

Scriptures, dreams, even a word brought by HIS angel ... are ways God speaks to each child of God.

In this broadcast, examples from Bible, and real life, will be presented showing us how God communicates with us, HIS children, so we can focus on those words we have heard from HIM.

How does God speak to us?

- Scripture
- A dream
- A word

* God spoke to Noah telling him to build an ark.

Genesis 6:12-13    And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.   And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.  Make thee an ark ...

And God told Noah exactly what size to build the ark, where to put a window in the ark, and what to bring into the ark!

(Sometimes the instructions are very specific and we must be careful to do exactly what we are told to do, omitting nothing and adding nothing other than that which God tells us.)

* God spoke to Abraham telling him what to do.

Genesis 12:1-4  Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4  So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him;

All Abraham did was to depart, for that is all God told him to do.

(Abraham departed not knowing where he was going.  He heard "depart" so he did that because he was sure it was God telling him to do this thing.)

* God spoke to the shepherds in the field as they tended to their flock, to tell them of an event that has just happened in Bethlehem.  Jesus has been born.

Luke 2:15   And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

Those angel's went to see that thing which had come to pass after God sent word to them concerning the event!

Consider what God has called to your attention.  Focus on that word or event.  Follow that word if there are instructions given in that word.

What scriptures stand out to you?  Or have you been given a dream?  If so, look at that dream.  Pray for interpretation:  "What does this mean, Lord?"

Focus and do the most recent word given to you by God and take it as far as you can ... likely then God will give you another scripture or dream or word to focus on ... follow each "road" given you by God as far as that road will take you!

God gets Moses attention, and Moses stops to see that which God is showing him:

Exodus 3:1-4    Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.

4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush

Jesus warns us about "surfeiting". (over indulgence)

Luke 21:34  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

When a scripture stands out to you, stop and look into that word.  Look up meanings of the words.  Consider how that word might apply to your life.  Make appropriate adjustments in your life to fit that Word, conforming yourself to that word.

God often speaks to HIS people through dreams.  We see this in the New Testament Bible.

Matthew 2:12   And being warned of God in a dream that they (the wise men) should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

***

Matthew 2:13-14  The angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

14 When he (Joseph) arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:

(Joseph was careful to do what he heard to do from that dream.)

***

Matthew 2:19-21  But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,  Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.

21 And he (Joseph) arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

Again Joseph did that which God instructed through that dream.

God spoke to the apostle Paul through an angel.

(That can happen in the NT church for it happened to Paul.).

Acts 25:22-25  Paul says:   And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

23 For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,  Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

God can get you free from a job if you hate that job!

One time God said to me:  "One step at a time ... one step at a time ... it is enough."

Follow that one scripture at a time, doing that scripture.

Matthew 6:33  Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and HIS righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

As we pay attention to that scripture or that word or that dream which is given us by the Holy Spirit of God ... and do all the instructions of that word and continue in that word ... we seek the kingdom of God and HIS righteousness ... "What is right in the sight of God?"

Choosing that way, going that way, continuing in that way.

Ask yourself:  "What scripture has burned through me recently?  What dream has God given me?"

Think on "that word" and take it as far as it will go.

Jesus says:

Matthew 7:13-14    Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
