*Millions in churches practice idolatry each Sunday morning at their churches without realizing it.

Some church groups light candles and burn incense, neither of which are in New Testament Bible for Christians to do in religious ceremonies.  When such is added to the church by man to try to get God to do something, this is a form of witchcraft and idolatry. Crossing yourself to "bless yourself" is witchcraft, not in Bible to do this.  The Lord's Supper is the partaking of the word of God and we are to apply that word to our lives.  To associate the eating of cracker or drinking of grape juice as the Lord's supper is something devised by the fleshly mind of man and has no power.  Bowing down before wooden crosses to pray or reciting things to images of humans is to practice idolatry.  Praying to anyone other than God is an evil abomination set up by men and usurps the position of God.  There are many evils in today's churches.  We must come to recognize these and refuse to participate in doing these things.  Otherwise we will suffer great penalty and loss, perhaps for all eternity.  Our God is a jealous God.

Neither do we set up alters to God, or candles for religious purposes, or images in our homes.  In the New Testament church we pray to God in the spirit and commune with God in spirit in churches and at our homes.

John 4:23-24   Jesus says:

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship HIM must worship HIM in spirit and in truth

Exodus 20:5

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them (to idols), nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Our responsibility to know the New Testament Bible and to go by the rules of the New Testament Bible:

II Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Matthew 23:9    Jesus says ...   And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

When Jesus returns, we will rise and meet Jesus "in the air".

I Thessalonians 4:13-17

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

I Corinthians 15:50-52

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

II Peter 3:10-14

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.

The practice of "idolatry" has very serious consequences:

Galatians 5:19-21

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

I Corinthians 5:11;13

11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat ...  13  Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

To win the race, we must run according to the rules of the New Testament Bible, not by doctrines of those churches who depart from scripture to set up their own rules.

I Corinthians 9:24-27    Paul says:

24   Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Those who take pleasure in their church groups while abandoning portions of the scriptures:

II Thessalonians 2:10-12

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Adding things to the church which are not in the New Testament Bible.

* Crossing yourselves  (not in Bible)

* Lighting candles with prayer, or any other time as a part of religion

* "Holy" water to cross yourselves

* Wearing crosses or  "religious"  medallions

* Praying to anyone other than God

* Calling crackers & grape juice "The Lord's Supper"  (The Lord's supper is partaking of the Word of God.)

* Christmas has become an idol greatly observed:  Not in Bible to do this at all.  Easter is not in Bible to observe this.  (Unger:  Easter was added to the church by men in 8th century.  Easter was taken from the pagan goddess of spring.)  In Acts 12, the word Easter means " The Passover".  Lent:  Jesus paid sacrifice for us in today's church.  To pay your own sacrifice by stopping doing something at "Lent" is an abomination and denies the sacrifice paid by Jesus with HIS own blood.

* Graven images:  Setting up statues in the church building and kneeling before statues in religious ceremonies

* Music: when used as entertainment in the church

Holy water?  Only one time in the Bible do we see a reference to "Holy Water."  This was a bitter water which was used by the OT priests to test the woman so see if she had been guilty of adultery.

Numbers 5:18-28

16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the Lord:

17  And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:

18 And the priest shall set the woman before the Lord, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:

19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:

20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:

21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The Lord make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the Lord doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;

22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.

23  And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:

24 And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.

25 Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the Lord, and offer it upon the altar:

26 And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water.

27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.

28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.

Dagon, the god of the Philistines:

I Samuel 5:1-7

And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.

2 When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

3 And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

4 And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

6 But the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and HE destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.

7   And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
