The apostle Paul said: For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: (Romans 7:18)
The works of the flesh are these: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal. 5:19-21)
But don't despair! For the Spirit of God that is in us rises up in us to overcome our own flesh and to direct us in the way of God that we can keep our own flesh crucified by Christ, The Word.
Romans 8:11-13 But if the Spirit of HIM that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by HIS Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (stop) the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
We learn to keep our own flesh under control of the Spirit of God who is in us.
