* Examples of walking in the Spirit whereby we overcome our own flesh.

The apostle Paul says:  Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  (Gal. 5:16)

People of this world often try to make their flesh better by setting up "New Year's Resolutions", and such things.

This is flesh trying to control flesh and it will not work!

(Our flesh never gets better because it is always flesh and the works of the flesh are the following:  Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  Gal. 5:19-21)

We, who are of God, learn to control our flesh by the Spirit of God who lives in us as we choose to walk in the way of the Spirit as HE reminds us of things of God to show us the way to go on this earth.  This works!

And each time we choose to walk in the instruction of the Word of God, we are conformed once more into the image of Christ, The Word!

As long as we live on this earth, we live this way by the Spirit of God, following the Word of God.

And at the end of our lives on this earth, we are welcomed into the kingdom of God by Jesus as having overcome on this earth through the Spirit.

Revelation 3:5  Jesus says:  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

This Podcast contains examples of overcoming through God as we walk in the Spirit of God, rejecting the way our own flesh would have us go.

Proverbs 8:11  Wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Proverbs 2

6 For the LORD (The Word) giveth wisdom: out of HIS mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

7 HE (The Word) layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: HE (The Word) is a buckler (shield) to them that walk uprightly.

8 HE (The Word) keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of HIS saints.

The Spirit of God who lives in each believer brings the Word of God to our minds showing us the way to go on this present earth.  As we walk in "The Spirit" we do that which pleases God in the issues at hand.

And by walking in "The Spirit", following that which the Spirit brings to our mind, we reject the way of our own flesh and overcome through the Spirit.

We please God each time we walk in HIS instructions.

They who follow the ideas of their own flesh, and the flesh of others, cannot please God.

Romans 8

5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh (following their flesh) cannot please God.

Only as we hear from God, by the Spirit of God, and walk in the instruction brought by the Holy Spirit of God, can we be accepted by God.

Jesus says:

Matthew 7

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Only those works which are authored by God will be accepted by God.

Many will grow cold to things of God:

Jesus says, concerning the end times:

Matthew 24:12-13   And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

We "overcome" our flesh each time we hear from the Spirit of God and choose to go in the way of God shown us by the Spirit of God.

Jesus says:

Revelation 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before His angels.

Learning to walk in the Spirit is a critical factor for each church member today.

Romans 8

11  But if the Spirit of HIM that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, HE that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
