* Pursuit of money, fame, reputation...Overcoming our own flesh.

We cannot pursue fame, money and reputation among men and serve God.  The only way we can be a servant of God is to do that which God tells us to do which is opposite to the way of this world.

But our flesh wants fame, money and reputation.

So there is a battle.

How do we overcome our own flesh?

10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

15 My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

14 And this is the confidence that we have in HIM (in God), that, if we ask any thing according to HIS will, HE heareth us:

15  And if we know that HE hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

II Thessalonians 2   KJV

3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Churches would fall away from specific scripture and set up other doctrines, another Jesus in the church.  Antichrist would come in when the restraint of the scripture was removed.

NASB

6 And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed.

Jesus, the scripture, was the restraint against antichrist, keeping antichrist out of the churches.  When the churches removed scripture, they removed Jesus, and they set up doctrines of antichrist which were opposite from those scriptures.  This is one of the things that had to happen before Jesus returns.

Concerning money:  Getting out of debt and staying out of debt

I Timothy 6

5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

(Debt causes a person to "love" money for they have to service that debt and must have that money.)

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

17  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
