For hundreds of years people have speculated on "who" is antichrist, thinking he would be some government leader.
In 1800's, Russian people thought antichrist was Napoleon. In 1940's, Hitler.

To the elders at the church at Ephesus, Paul said: For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (Acts 20:29-30)
These men are antichrist.
Also the Apostle John shows us antichrist coming through the churches and John says there are "many" antichrists not just one.

Who is antichrist?
The apostle Paul says:
Antichrist comes through the churches. He takes his place in "the temple of God." says Paul. (II Thessalonians 2:3-4)

Before Jesus could return, there would come "a falling away" and this would allow antichrist to come into the churches.
The churches would fall away from portions of scripture.
The scriptures were the restraint against antichrist and these Holy Scriptures kept antichrist back, but when portions of scriptures were removed from the churches, this allowed antichrist to come in and sit in the churches in the perverted doctrines.

(In 1982, God said to me: The "falling away" were not individuals leaving the churches but the "falling away" were churches leaving the scriptures and setting up other doctrines." By this antichrist could enter into the church groups.)

(As soon a portions of scripture were removed from the church groups, the restraint holding antichrist back was removed. For only the scriptures held antichrist back from the church.)
